Manchester United will consider bidding for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke when the transfer window reopens in January, the Express understands.
The Belgium international, who scored 19 goals last season, had submitted a transfer request in the summer, only to make a dramatic U-turn and sign a new contract at Villa Park.
He linked up well with United’s new signing Marouane Fellaini in Belgium’s 2-0 win over Scotland on Friday evening, a game which was attended by David Moyes.
Arsenal are also interested in securing the 22 year old’s services, after they failed to bring in further reinforcements in that position during the close season.
Meanwhile, former United defender Henning Berg has suggested to the clubs official website that Fellaini should be deployed as a forward by his new club.
Berg believes that the 25 year old, who completed his move to the Premier League champions in the final moments of transfer deadline day a week ago, can excel in a forward role – playing just behind Robin Van Persie.
Fellaini was Everton’s top scorer last season after scoring eleven goals in thirty-one league appearances, whilst he also netted in the FA Cup victory over Cheltenham Town.
