Van Persie doubtful for Everton clash

Manchester United host manager David Moyes’ former club Everton to Old Trafford this evening, looking for the three points that could see them burst into the top four.

The hosts will be without Phil Jones, who serves a one match suspension after amassing five yellow cards, while a late decision will be made on Robin van Persie, who has been suffering with a combination of groin and toe problems.

Wayne Rooney is once again set to lead the line, and will be hoping to continue his fine form which has seen him score five goals in his last five games.

Meanwhile, Moyes’ is set to step up his efforts to sign Galatasaray midfielder Wesley Sneijder by offering the Turkish champions both Nani and Anotonio Valencia in exchange when the transfer window reopens next month, the Express understands.

United have long been linked with the Dutch international, who moved to Istanbul in January to help the club clinch the Super Lig title.

That was the 29 year olds fourth league championship in four different European countries having also received winners medals in Italy with Inter Milan, Spain with Real Madrid and his native Netherlands with Ajax where he began his career.
